Abraham Lincoln,  was born February 12, 1809 and died on April 15, 1865 he was the 16th President of the Unitied States he served as President from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865.

He is also part of the Enchanted Family and the link to Lady Kathleen is through the Compton line at William Henry Compton II (Baptist William)  up to my many times great Grandfather Captain John Bowne and his Granddaughter Hannah Salter that married Mordecai Lincoln which Mordecai’s Father was Abraham’s Grandfather 

Lincoln said, regarding slavery, “Whenever this question shall be settled, it must be settled on some philosophical basis. No policy that does not rest upon some philosophical public opinion can be permanently maintained.”

Which Peleg Lincoln? There were at least two:

One (22 Oct 1770-25 Nov 1827) descended from Sgt. Daniel Lincoln (no relation to the president)

One (8 Apr 1775-23 Feb 1855) who lived in ME and was probably distantly related to the president.

I am working on my new neice’s ancestry. She says they are related to Abraham Lincoln and I am not quite finding that, so I thought I would retrace what i know.

Lydia Rebecca LINCOLN married to Jedd D. BELL on Jan 6, 1875 in Peru, VT. She is daughter of James LINCOLN and Sibil HALE. Lydia was born Sept 5, 1850 in VT and died on Jan 17, 1911 in Peru, VT. Jedd BELL was born on May 1, 1846 and died Oct 23, 1912 both in VT. They had 4 children: Augusta, Flora, Lottie and Edward.

Do either of these families look familiar? I will be happy to share the information I have compiled.

For Abe to be your uncle, he would have had either a sister of brother who lived and produced your line. Abe’s only sister died around 1829 in childbirth. His only brother Thomas died while very young.

It is possible that you descend from his wife’s side meaning he would be your uncle by marriage (Uncle-in-law). You might check the TODD family board to see if anyone has info there. But the best way for you to “discover” this is to begin your own tree. Start with yourself then work back through your parents and grandparents, etc. You will need REAL proof such as birth, marriage, and death records.

All of Abe’s direct family is gone. His descendants died out many years ago.

Those who are related are cousins of one level or another.
