But Blogs still seem to lack one key factor, a place to actually start and continue a discussion. Oh yes there are comments, but they seem to lack something because sometimes you can never tell who is really talking to who.

That is where Enchanted Family is making a new change. We have added a new forum for you to enjoy. A place where you can start up new discussions and join in on old ones. So lets get started because the best part of Genealogy is finding new family.

Everyone has family links and ties, so maybe you did not find a link within the Enchanted Family. You can try posting a message on the forum under the section “LOOKING FOR” You never know who might see it and be able to help you out.

Anyway, This is just one more way the Enchanted Family is getting more Enchanted!

<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fenchantedfamily.com%2Fstaveness%2Fstaveness-hamilton-connections"></g:plusone>

For years I have been on the search for this connection. I have gotten close, so now I am asking you for help with this one. The search all started 30 years ago when my daughter Rebecca and my son Jon were very young. I had recently married Marlin Staveness while I was over in England. My father was stationed at a Military base in England and I went to High School at Lakenheath England which is where Marlin was stationed with the Military.

On one of my first visits to Marlin’s parent’s house, his mother (Mary Jane Froggner Staveness) and I started talking about our genealogies. She mentioned her ancestors were HAMILTON. Knowing my mother had done genealogy I knew my ancestors were also named HAMILTON. She mentioned that her Hamilton’s had something they called the “Hamilton Finger” a crooked pinky finger. Looking down at my hands we both noticed that I, Kathleen, had a crooked pinky finger.

So the search was on and this is what I found so far:

Both sides of the family both indeed have Hamilton’s and both sides of the Hamilton families lived in Skagit Washington at the same time. On the Same1910 Skagit County Census lists Frank and James in Sedro Woolley Precinct 2, Skagit, Washington and Motz and Daisy in Hamilton, Skagit Washington The places are 12.9 Miles apart.

In 1883 Frank R owned a historical Farm which is now called Ovenell’s Heritage Inn at 46276 Concrete Sauk Valley Road, Concrete, Washington, which is only 30 miles from where William Alexander Hamilton lived in Skagit River, Washington.

Both sides of the Family lived in the Skagit County Washington Area between the years 1883 and 1939.

I have yet to find the actual connecting persons but I think I am getting close.

Here is the time line in picture form to help see the connections (the picture has a lot of notes to help see the connections:

<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fenchantedfamily.com%2Fstaveness%2Fnew-update-staveness-family-tree-by-rebecca"></g:plusone>

Today, my daugther Rebecca asked me to help her build her Father’s Side of the family into the Enchanted Family. This would be the Staveness Side of the Family. Well instead of her just sending me her gedcom, I gave her the setup of a new tree within the Enchanted Family. She will be the one in control of this tree and updating it from time to time.

Where I do have some of the Staveness’s in the Enchanted Tree Side, she will have a lot more within her side. You may find if searching in all trees that there will be a few that are in both trees. Now searching under each tree may give you extra data that is not under the other.

I hope you have fun with all the new data being added and you find what your looking for.

Within the Genealogy Pages the Enchanted Family all starts with the famous people named Adam and Eve. Then their descendants scattered throughout the world. Some were famous by their deeds or heritage like Royalty of many countries, US Presidents, E.J. Smith Captain of the Titanic, Lady Godiva, Magna Carta signers, Pilgrims, Immigrates, Soldiers, Authors and much more. But what really makes them famous is they are all part of the Enchanted Family which are ancestors and descendants of Lady Kathleen. The Enchanted Family Website first had its roots within the The Enchanted Castle, but it soon outgrew the castle walls as did the Enchanted Poetry. So now when Lady Kathleen is not running her business Website Designing Business you can perhaps find Lady Kathleen here researching genealogy.

People, Places and Events and keeping it all organized.

Helpful TIP: Keep a file folder of maps, dates and places handy and organize your files on your computer. Here at the Enchanted Family I use a program called TNG, which I am also incorparating into my WordPress blog. I have always been interested in history, well maybe not so much dates but the events and people. But I hated all those historical dates that we were told to memorize. So, I would memorize them for an exam and then, promptly forget them! I never figured I would have a reason to use those dates, names, places, events after school, so in time they seem to have disappeared out of my memory.

Later, I am building my family tree and am running into many challenges. For example, I am researching my greatgrandfather’s military service – there is a family story that he fought in the a War – but I have no idea when the War began, except that it was before 1900. It would obviously be very helpful to have those dates in a simple chart of wars or skirmishes.

Over the years, I have learned to gather both specific and general maps of relevant areas and dates. I now have more success finding my ancestors in the correct places at the times they may have lived there. And I understand what kinds of resources I might search for details of an ancestor living in that decade.

There are many historical resources that I have found which can be very helpful when I am uncovering my family’s particular history. I start by asking lots of questions: What was happening at that time, in that decade? Where exactly were they living? Is there a history written of that area? What area of the country was being sold or annexed? Where was the seat of government, and when was it established? Where were records kept in that year? Were there newspapers published in those places? Where did ships arrive, and from where? Are there passenger lists available, indexed, online? Oh yes Online is one of my most favorite places to search for information and that is why the birth of the Enchanted Family came to be. I feel I am giving back to others by posting what I have found. I also find that detailing as much as I can about people places and events make my ancestors’ history come alive, and I hope my tree is intriguing to others like yourself. So weather you are in my family line or not I hope you can find something of interest.

This line mostly resides in the Wisconsin area. Lady Kathleen met and married Marlin Staveness in England, he was in the Air Force and she was attending Lakenheath High School. As Marlin was in the military Rebecca was born in Las Vegas at the Air Force Base. Now Jon got to hold onto tradition and was born in Wisconsin.

One of the interesting facts about this lines is that even though Kathleen and Marlin are divorced it is believed that Marlin and Kathleen are still distant cousins. This is a link that Kathleen has been working on for many years. The link seems to be through Kathleen and Marlins Hamilton line. And Marlin’s Mother Mary seems to strongly believe that connect is there.
